The Rye Wrestling program has had a tradition of excellence over the past forty years. Winning numerous Sectional Titles is a proud honor of the team.

The Varsity Wrestling season starts in the first week of November and runs through February. Practices continue through Winter Vacations and is a demanding sport to be a member of. The team competes in 14 Dual meets and 7 Tournaments throughout the course of the season.

During the 2007-2008 Season the Varsity Team had its most successful season in over a decade. Placing high in numerous tournaments as well as a solid dual meet record of 12-4 has lead the Garnets back to high hopes for the 200-2009 season.

In the 2008-2009 season the team will contain a 3 school merger, Blind Brook H.S. as well as Rye Neck H.S. will be a part of the team here at Rye. All three schools will compete under the name of Rye High School. Both the team and their coach are excited to be competing with some of the top programs in the Section and State. This will be a true contest of hard work and dedication for another successful season, and to reestablish Rye as one of the premier Varsity Wrestling Programs in the section.

The Rye Middle School Wrestling Team serves as a great feeder program to the varsity team, giving our athletes an advantage to get ahead. The wrestlers on the Middle School team work hard five days a week and wrestle as many as twelve matches throughout the season.

This past year the Rye Pee Wee Wrestling Program had 52 wrestlers on the squad. The Pee Wee program is open for students in grades 2-6 in the Rye City School District. The club meets two nights per week for 7 weeks starting in December/January. The Pee Wee Club is directed by the Varsity Wrestling Coach and assisted by selected Varsity Wrestlers. This club provides a fun learning environment for a sport that has so much to offer.

With so much happening to the whole Rye Wrestling Program we are very excited about what the future will bring. We are also very optimistic that the hard work of our student-athletes will pay off for our future success on and off the mat.
